the Pax Romana was the golden age of the Roman Empire, marked by peace, order, and prosperity under Roman rule. It basically began with the reign of Emperor Augustus, who had established a strong central control and ended decades of civil war that raged thru the Roman Empire.

Dante was born in Arizona in the painted rocks tribe, As a boy, he often accompanied his father on caravan runs through Zion Canyon and the upper Arizona trade routes. It was on one of these routes, around 2266, that tragedy struck. A coalition of raiders — some ex-slaves, others displaced tribes — attacked Dante's caravan near the Arizona Plateau. The assault was brutal and methodical, leaving no survivors except for a handful of wounded. His father was killed defending their wagons, and his mother died in the ensuing fire. Dante survived only by accident, crawling from the wreckage with severe burns and collapsing in the desert. Days later, a Legion scouting party under Vulpes Inculta discovered the scene. The raiders had been wiped out — likely by another Legion detachment — but among the bodies they found Dante , delirious and barely alive. Vulpes recognized the boy’s unusual possession: a small, charred translation booklet containing English and Latin phrases. Curious, he ordered Dante to be taken alive back to Flagstaff, where he was nursed to health in a slave camp. When Dante awoke, he was told that his life belonged to Caesar. - Nothing more is known about his background and how they joined the legion.
